sales-i supports the Guide Dogs by running in the Birmingham half marathon. Who will make it to the finish line first?
At sales-i, the Guide Dogs organization is a charity close to all of our hearts – especially with Trevor (our very own Guide Dog) plodding from desk to desk as he follows our CEO, Paul Black.
Guide Dogs is a brilliant charity that exists to provide life-changing services to those living with sight loss. To raise donations, the team in the office thought it would be a great idea to sign up for a half marathon…
It took a bit of convincing for some, and others were immediately onboard (those regular gym-goers who lift weights during their lunch break). But before we knew it, everyone was in the team spirit and soon became each other’s cheerleader.
Those that didn’t feel like training were encouraged to push through.
Those that felt like quitting were motivated by the reason they started.
…And more importantly, employees from different departments – that wouldn’t normally socialize in their own time – were building new relationships and forming bonds that they never even knew they could share.
Prabha Patel, Software Tester at sales-i shares that “The half marathon has given us all something in common to bring us closer. We’ve built on old relationships and even made new ones. In the end, it’s become more than just a race. I’m doing it for fundraising, friendship and fitness!”
The runners take their place at the start line on New Street, Birmingham. They explore the city during their 13.1 mile course through Selly Park, Cannon Hill Park, Calthorpe Park, and Digbeth until they cross the finish line at Jennens Road.
Every day 250 people in the UK lose their sight. When that happens, Guide Dogs make sure they don’t lose their freedom too. Every penny donated goes towards the registered blind or partially sighted to live a life full of confidence and independence.

So, all that’s left to say is good luck to our runners on Sunday 13th October 2019 and we’ll see you at the finish line!
